BNSF 1600

Frank makes an excellent point as the 1600 has had the "Hillyard" nose since the late 1970s after taking a plunge into the Clearwater river in 1975. Lets see, high nose 1954-75 = 21 years; Hillyard nose 1976-2007 = 31 years.

For those who may not know, BN 1702 was the last major rebuild project completed at the former GN Hillyard shops in Spokane WA. Those Craftsmen of Hillyard worked on it as a "filler" project for almost 2 years before delivering a better than new GP9, justifiably proud of their work.

My personal preference is for the high short hood, but them that puts up the money has the final say and they won't get any criticism from me. I just DON'T want to see it turned into a Green Goat! It would be really neat to see it back in Lewiston on the BG&CM.
