I mainly remember riding the "torpedos" (double-end PCCs) after they were converted to single-end by placing seats across all the doors on the "off" side and installing sheet metal panels across the controls on what was now the rear end. They had kind of an odd, "waddling" ride especially at speed in the Twin Peaks Tunnel, but nowhere near as bouncy and jerky as the 1100's (former St. Louis cars). IIRC, the single-end cars had a hand controller under the back seat to use in yards or for emergency reverse movements.
