Mr. Boyd is right again...former NWP 182 (I think) tender was used on the K&HV
by Gus Peterson. It sat up on redwood cribbing next to the main and we took oil
from it at the end of the day. This is a somewhat historic piece of equipment as the
locomotive that it came off of was used in the ceremony near Cain Rock when the RR was
completed. There's a happy ending here. Pete Replinger and others were responsible
for the tender geing sold to Mt. Rainier Scenic Ry. in WA and she was used for years
behind Porter built Mikado 5. With the 5 now out of service, the tender has been cleaned
out and serves as a water car when they operate to Tacoma and back. This was last done that
I know of in 2005. Tender is unique in that it has a vestibule at the rear for passenger
use.
If the engine number that I gave for the tender is incorrect, please don't hesitate to
correct this.
