NP X 242 E climbing Lookout pass between Wallace, ID and Missoula, MT 3-22-65. I got the crew's permission to ride this train out of Wallace back to Missoula. Climbing the 4% of Lookout pass had the 3 Geeps in run 8 for the most part, even if we only had about a dozen cars. The Wallace local used MILW tracks between St. Regis and Haugan, MT, and on this stretch of MILW tracks, we met MILW 263 with a couple of Little Joes. Lots of snow on the pass...about 5', but it made for some great photos. Both the Wallace Branch and the MILW have been abandoned for quite some time, so this scene no longer exists.
