End of the line for Elvas tower

In a Sacramento Bee article, Sacramento's (ex-SP) Elvas Tower, the last interlocking tower in No. Calif. will be torn down soon. The CSRM has salvaged the interlocking machine, windows, and other signs and artifacts, but has no place to put the tower itself, which the UP had donated to them. It plans to build a replica someday. The tower was built between 1907 and 1911 and was deactivated in 1999, but stood until recently because of wiring that ran through the building.
