You can catch trains twice that length during the grain rush. I've shot southbounds with 45-50 empty hoppers. Last time I caught one of these, they lined right through the siding at Plaza and cut off the rear 20 or so cars, then continued on to Oakesdale, making another big set-out, then took the rest for short spots elsewhere. Loaded trains of similar length are not unheard of. They really crank up the dynamics snaking down into Marshall, and it takes a number of moves to break the train into chunks that'll fit in the small interchange yard. This was two or three years ago, or more. Can't tell you if they'll run trains like that this coming fall.
