In my experience, trains of 35 cars or more were very common in the early to mid '90s when I was photographing the BN action. The trains off of the WI&M were typically 15-20 cars, and often more.

The W&I does run seemingly any hour of the day, they've come past my house in Pullman at 10pm several times. And... just as I'm writing this, they're pulling into Pullman with the 4204 and another storage train; I sure don't envy the guy who's going to be riding the point on that shove in the blowing wind and rain/snow of this morning...

Bruce - did you get paid for that RA piece? I haven't heard a word from them.
