Kurt Armbruster's amazing book ORPHAN ROAD details the coming of the railroads to Puget Sound. I say amazing because of the research and documentation that went into it. If you haven't read it, it would be a great read for someone interested in the railroad history of the region. It was published in 1999. A place like Comstock's Books in downtown Auburn would have copies.
