Further on Ewe - Pee operations in Puget Sound; their trackage rights actually start in North Portland, OR., not Vancouver, WA. They also perform joint switching with BNSF in Kelso,WA., and have access to the grain elevators along the Columbia River in Kalama, WA. U.P. was not a tenant of the N.P. Prairie line once the Point Defiance line opened, although G.N. trains continued to use this line thru South Tacoma & Yelm until after World War 2.
Although it doesn't show in the picture, there was a connection to the N.P. Prairie Line @ the North end of Tacoma Union Station. Trains scheduled to use this line would use the N.P. Drawbridge line over Municipal Waterway ( now Thea Foss Waterway ) and either back in or out of the station platforms.
