While my late Dad was attending college @ Cal Poly, he took the train home at least once
& told me that the Ten-Wheeler was so slow going up the grade out of Redwood Valley that
he & several other young guys jumped off and then trotted alongside for awhile. The
Conductor was not amused. I was surprised when Dad told me that there was no helper...
could have been account of the War going on.
