Many thanks, Bob, for your various postings on these older line changes. Most students of Marias history know about the later changes at Rising Wolf/Bison and down in the river canyon near Belton, and a few might even know about the tunnels that were eliminated on Walton Hill, but those line changes between East Glacier and Browning were indeed something else. Hidy's book made only brief mention of a small section of these changes. One look at the USGS topos, or Googleearth, and it's readily apparent that the GN used to make a much more serpentine approach to the east side of the Rockies.
