Considering the overall long-term returns on his investment portfolio, I have no doubt that this venture will do fine by him. To be sure, he has done his homework and, as always, he's in it for the long haul. Legacy works when you have the chops to back up your actions. He understands that BNSF isn't as reliant on coal as the eastern roads.

Compare his strategy to those s***heel high-growth-at-any-cost hedge fund managers that helped bring the economy to its knees.
