Just to add to this forum, yours truly and 15 to 16 or so others, were on the first eastbound (technically southbound), Gold Line Eastside Extension train at 3:40 a.m.!!!

Six of our group were on the first Gold Line Train to Pasadena back in 2003 at 4 a.m. (July 26, 2003).

P.S.: Starting later in the morning, trains were crowded all day on both the Pasadena and East LA sections. On the 15th, (free day), you had to transfer at Union Station.
