The problem with this type of story is that the follow-up almost never gets printed. This is a nuisance lawsuit. The plantiff's attorneys have no expectation of going to trial. They expect a settlement for far less than the amount claimed. The real story is that many large companies and their insurers are getting smart and refusing to settle. The plantiff's attorneys are working on contingency and once they see their costs mounting for trial preparation they reduce their demands or drop the suit altogether. There are some exceptions but many stories of huge jury awards for ridiculous suits are urban myths.
