Thinking back to my first visit to McCloud...it was in September of '66 & I was on leave from the USAF. I stopped by there really early one weekday morning, watched them fire up 3 or 4 of the Baldwins for different jobs and then went inside that small office on the corner of the enginehouse, introduced myself and told the dispatcher I was military & could I possibly look around.
"Why don't you ride the train to Burney" he asked. So I did, behind engine 34 and had a truly great experience. They even offered me a current EMP TT and I still have it. Never forget that kindness.
