The last time I did any photography there, in 2006 or so, I followed normal procedure and checked in with the security. If nothing has changed since then, the first thing you should do is go to the security office at the main lobby entrance facing Alameda St. Ask to take pictures and refer to the release form. Sign it, and that's the owner's method of permission. Keep in mind that LAUPT is (was??) privately owned. The only thing you may have trouble with after that would be the L A County Sheriff's deputies, if they are still around. I was lightly hassled on the platform, but talked my out of being asked to fold up my gear.
Keep in mind that if you have not visited LAUPT in many years, it is now a normally crowded environment during the weekday rush hours and you may be seen as a problem by the fuzz.
I did not make any attempts to photogrpah the Red Line down below. That's probably another problem all by itself.
