Stan, thanks for all your feedback. If this project had the luxury of being sited along a main line, the former ballast pit spur at Cactus, WA, comes quickly to mind as one of several possible alternatives (assuming the spur is still in place). It's isolated, not blatantly in public view, and able to be reasonably secured. I imagine you have already considered all potential sites on your railroad and came up with none better than Belmont.
No, I don't think we've seen anybody as extreme as Michael Moore chime in here yet. All that T.J. called for was an intelligent balance between business and the public, profitability and safety. One only needs to recall Bhopal, India, or Alberton, Montana, to understand why the potential for a large-scale hazmat release is not to be taken lightly.
