Bill,
I remember that line quite well and it sat lighly used(was active in '68) and later unused until about 1974-75 when the rails were finally pulled up. Actually the rails are still under the asphault and visible in many places. The Line was the PE East Highlands branch, once going out to East Highlands and in the 40s to a shorter form which terminated at a lumber yard at 9th and Waterman until the line was removed. There was once a short line that connected the Arrowhead Springs branch on D st to the point where the rails left Sierra Way by the graveyard, but that went away in the 40s. The water train used to have to go up Sierra Way a bit to pull and shove water bottles at the bottling plant, which was located just where the rails left Sieera Way on the southern end and ultimately crossed third, second, and joined the Rialto Ave. trackage just east of E st. The part at Rialto Ave was actually where the PE left the Rialto Ave. alignment and headed for all points east of Berdoo.
