Gary, thanks much, like you say, even though I saw what I saw. what was there wasn't what was there, ouch. The interchange at May was there when I was at UCR and the lumberyards (at least the
one at the end of the line) was taking a load or two at least once a week. This run was done at
night and the only movement I ever saw on the line was a pair of GP-35's and the weed spray train
down by Tyler. There was a fertilizer operation at about Tyler than one year took many hoppers
and for some reason (storage) in turn shipped most of the material back out several months later.
The Corona end still had the interchange track down to the Santa Fe in place and the two lumber
yards down there got loads about weekly or bi-weekly.
Back to the Fairmont stub, that didn't make much more sense than the UP line down to the park area
but I always figured that it was the Rialto remnant. There was so much more in place in the sixties, SP Crafton had inbound lumber loads, the Santa Fe loop was fairly busy and the PE Berdoo
yard had quite a bit of inbound lumber traffic, plus Levitz even got inbound loads of furniture.
I'd also always thought that the Rialto Blvd trackage was PE as there really wasn't much SP in the
area. What of the north stub where the line reached the private right of way??
