WAF's right, construction of "ordinary" housing is way down. However, the mega-millions big-boy houses continue to pop up all over, certainly around north Idaho, where out-of-staters with dollars to burn can still find bargain prices on property and houses compared with high-priced markets like Seattle, Whitefish, etc. But those house prices are quickly catching up with Seattle. There was a nearly mile-long string of centerbeams stored at Empire siding on Spokane's west side starting this summer, still there as of a few weeks ago. It's not because of a logging slowdown due to the season. As was posted in a recent STMA thread, logging can continue well through the winter because the ground is frozen. It's spring time when the logging really slows down due to soft road conditions, both in the forest and on minor local paved roads.
