Another Berkeley question

At Shattuck & University in Berkeley, the east branch of Shattuck (where it goes around Berkeley Square) dead ends at University Avenue.

Question: directly across University from where that branch of Shattuck ends, it looks like there was once a street (?) heading northeast towards Oxford Street. It's quite apparent on the aerial view on Google Maps, and the new apartment building on the site really shows the odd shape of the lot.

Does anybody know anything about this block? Sappers's book on the Key System doesn't have any information on it.
