Connect Oregon III Funding

The ConnectOregon III team at the Oregon Department of Transportation has released the list of applicants for this years round of grant funding.
ODOT has received 97 applications requesting more than $251 million dollars from the $100 million dollar annually allocated program.
On the railroad side of funding requests, The International Port of Coos Bay has applied for $7.8 million dollars for rehabilitation of the Coos Bay Rail Line.
Alcan Cable applied for a little more than $2 million dollars for a railroad spur and warehouse at it Wilber, Oregon facility.
The Siskiyou Regional Railroad Authority based out of Yreka, California applied for $13.3 million dollars to fund a proposal to buy 8o miles of the tracks and right of way from Union Pacific Railroad from Weed, California to just South of Medford.
Geographically, the Willamette Valley and the North Coast region requested the most funding with 38 projects totaling $87.7 million dollars.
The next step in the process is for ODOT staff to review all of the applications before forwarding them to advisory committees and public input.
In June of 2010 the applications will be sent to a Final Review Committee. In July those recommendations will go to the Oregon Transportation Commission for public input. The final list of projects that will receive ConnectOregon III funding are due out from the Commission in August of 2010.
