Oh - I almost forgot the main thing I intended to post:
Seems Veolia-Connex is getting fired all over the place, Austin Texas being the latest. And before that, MBTA in Boston. Also in Europe too! About a month ago a transit agency in Great Britain announced termination of their contract, also because of rampant safety violations - including running red signals.
Apparently, there must be some kind of systemic corporate culture problem with this outfit, that is worldwide in scope.
I still think that MetroLink would be better off running the trains themselves, and not farming it out, causing them to have to rely on others for safety, who will always have their own agenda.
If a small place such as Salt Lake City can do it, and maintain their own PTC like adaptation of ATC/ATP cab signals while there at it; then certainly anybody can.
