I don't believe that's true. 3029 was retired in the middle of the pace.

The last one was 3031, last run Feb. 5, 1975 on train 147, as the other person stated, the only one to last into 1975. 3021 and 3022 were retired in December 1974. 3033 and 3035 were gone a little before that. I believe 3024 and 3029 went in mid-1974, kind of middle of the pack, so the speak. 3027 was the first to go.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Also, I think SP had a deal to sell 3024 and 3029 to a coal shortline in the midwest, but it fell through unfortunately.
