Whining and excuse making has become an epidemic in the USA, and the larger the corporation, the more they pay PR firms to do there whining for them--Railroads, Banks, Insurance Companies-lots of excuses from PR people trained to do nothing else but whine. And, all the PR people these days are from the media or unemployed politicians, who are renowned for there scientific and engineering skills?
Whining is a bipartisan disease and it is epidemic, and the more ridiculous the whining, the more press it will get. Whining about killer trains, while we kill fifty thousand a year with trucks and autos is an example. Whining about having to be responsible or having to be an adult seems to be the most common trait. Whining about having to pay your taxes, or paying your bills, or not talking or texting on your cell phone while driving, or having car insurance, or having health insurance, or being responsible for almost anything, in general, is now considered "normal".
From rail safety, to actually having to have money in reserve to back your credit default swaps, whining about actually not cheating the people you sold health insurance to, whining about not getting your million dollar bonus when the government has to bail your company out-because you're incompetent, whining about not getting a bail out for your overextended mortgage that you took out to flip houses, or whining about having to fight Al Quaida---all just the same source- chronic spoiled whining disease.
The people who actually have to solve these problems like good engineers, US Marines, responsible parents, don't whine-they do. Railroads whine like everybody else, that's what they pay these PR drones and lobbyists to do for them. They whine about PTC, because that's what we do now, it's becoming our number one export, too.
I don't hear Warren Buffet whining about how PTC will screw up BNSF-he's buying?
