I remember from the 1960's anti-war demonstrations, that protesters blocked the A.T.& S.F. track through Berkeley and stopped a troop train. (Not sure how many trains they stopped.) After this happened, the Department of Defense decided to avoid Berkeley and re-routed troop trains bound to and from the Oakland Army Terminal via the Western Pacific. Anyone know more about this?
