This heavy Mikado has been traded to the Grand Canyon Ry. for a pair of smaller Consolidations, numbers 18 & 20. The 18 had been operated by the GCR since 1989 up to the NRHS trip with ATSF 3751 when 18, 3751 & 4960 briefly tripleheaded the excursion train into WMS from about 3 miles out of town.
539 had been a display engine for years in Vancouver, WA then was moved to nearby Battleground. She was purchased by an individual who looked at several different operating ideas around the NW. Plans are to transport the two Consols to Hood River, OR where the 18 is supposed to operate on passenger trains starting this summer.
