The term "snoot" was another one coined by railbuffs to indicate SD40-2 units with an extended 116-inch nose rather than the 88-inch standard one. SP and Santa Fe also has some. UP's weren't their early ones, and while some were indeed in the "Fast Forty" 8000 series, not all were (just as not all 8000's had long noses).
