SP U30C working in Black and White and Color

Two Scans, done at two different times (about 1.5 years apart) of pictures taken moments apart in 1974. One is from a color slide, the other is from a black and white negative. Southern Pacific U30C 7918 and SD35 6927 are shoving some cars at the west end of the Roseville Yard in Antelope, CA on September 29, 1974.

Which is better, I don't know...
