Closing/consolidating/cutting back newspaper printing plants has been happening for some time. Does anybody here actually subscribe to a daily any more? Even if they keep running, the lower volume these days can easily be handled by trucks; I was very surprised to see a couple of boxcars at the SacBee's dock last week, for instance, because there haven't been any regular rail deliveries for over a year (occasional cars, but rarely). Still, it's a sign of the times and not necessarily a good one.
