William
The smelter at Trail is serviced by the Kooteney Valley RR a subsidiary of the CP there is one train each way per day. Trains leave Cranbrook BC south to Curson Junction (about 15 miles from the US boarder)at Curzon they switch onto the KVR and run to Trail via Nelson and Castlegar. When I was there running our speeder last year the inbound train for Trail arrived at Castlegar at about 09:00. We tied our speeders down for the night at Creston which is about
20 miles from Curzon junction. The outbound train for Cranbrook came through at about 20:00. It is a very beautifull area and you should be able to catch both trains any place you wish in daylight.
