Its a very old and rickety draw bridge. It has had a permanent 10mph restriction on it for decades. It still gives one a start though, to hear even a lightweight 10mph Amtrak train banging and thumping accross.
I say, if these boys want to play rough, its time to play rough back - just don't stop.
A few years back while comming home with my family in the car (only a few blocks from home), I witnessed a small band of thugs trying to force stop the car ahead of me. I hung back a bit, then when that car managed to escape they came after me. I made a lot noise revving the engine, then dropped it in gear and floored it. BELIEVE YOU ME, they got out of the way fast, because they knew I was not going to stop no matter what. As soon as I got away, I called the police. I was told I did the right thing to use such deadly force. It turns out they were violent escapees from juvee that the cops were desperately looking for.
Make it well known in the neighborhood that the next train WILL NOT stop. Have all trains hang back a mile or so until the bridge and the station are ready, then go for it. If you make it obvious that you will not stop no matter what - they WILL get out of the way fast; and never try it again. If one of them does get hurt? TOUGH - still don't stop. Deadly threats justify deadly force.
