It -AIN'T- "immoral/dishonest/unethical/unsafe/violent conduct" to defend yourself or others, even with deadly force. What hasn't been mentioned yet - is who would have got it if that train crew didn't engage the attackers. The passengers? You betcha! The crew acted heroically! Any passenger train crew has an absolute moral duty to defend those passengers entrusted to them, as does anyone else on the scene who had the means to resist; with WHATEVER force required to stop the attack. You know how much force is enough when the attack actually IS stopped.
What IS "immoral/dishonest/unethical/unsafe/violent conduct" is the disarming of up-standing, moral, and law abiding citizens, leaving all of us at the mercy of "immoral dishonest unethical unsafe violent thugs who have not been and never will be disarmed. The right of self-defense is absolute and inherent to ALL life; the denial of which borders on blatant fascism.
The powers that be - must be called upon to modify silly rules, or at least use some reasonned judgement when the situation goes beyond the rules, as it certainly did here.
