I want to clarify myself.. yes, the NWP will run as far as Cloverdale for light rail. And SOMEDAY... they might make it to Eureka.... BUT, as I said before, the test will be to stay in business and provide a useful service, 365 days a year. Someone said there is tons of traffic for the railroad, but do you think the trucking companies, who are handling it now, will give it up. Do you think REALLY think, the shippers who have depended on the trucks to haul the goods while the NWP has been in and out of service for the past 20 plus years, are going to give it all back to the rails? If you do, then I've got beach front property in South Dakota for you.

There is not enough business left for the rails.. give me a break about garbage and gravel. Not enough garbage in the area to make a buck on. What will happen when Scotia Bluffs slides down and blocks the rails for 3-6 months. Garbage going to just pile up waiting for the railroad to open.

The only business the NC got after the SP left was leftovers from the mill. When fuel prices went high, long east lumber went rail. When fuel prices went down, cars to the NC dimished.
This is reality. The mills aren't there anymore to give leftovers to the railroad.

End of discussion or as Linda Ellerbee would say.. And so it goes.
