The last SP revenue steam over the Altamont was believed to have been on November 29, 1956
with AC 4211 as a point helper East on a beet train from Niles to Altamont. After reaching
the summit, it cut off and ran light back to Niles and then light to Roseville the next day.
There was also an excursion with GS-6 4443 in early '57 IIRC.
