The Siskiyou Regional Railroad Authority based in Montague, California has been turned down on their request to use ConnectOregon grant money to purchase the south portion of the Siskiyou rail line.
The ConnectOregon III grant program is administered thru the Oregon Department of Transportation. Kelly Taylor, Railroad Administrator at ODOT in Salem has confirmed a letter notifying the Siskiyou Regional Railroad Authority of the rejection of their grant application.
The Authority had asked ConnectOregon for a $13 million dollar grant to buy the South portion of the Siskiyou Rail Line, a majority of the track & right of way is located in Northern California.
ODOT will now give the Siskiyou Regional Railroad Authority 30 days to appeal their decision.
