Until the depression started with the collapse of the real estate market, cement and concrete prices were going through the roof. In the next few years, as the economy recovers, and we do more infrastructure construction, this condition will come back, as we have not expanded supply. So a buyer might appear.

I have had several contacts over the last few years with companies with cement mines who don't have rail access, who were exploring the possibility of building or extending rail connections, because of the competitive disadvantage when you have to rely of trucks for this type of bulk commodity. That access should make this facility desirable. But, the strange politics of Santa Cruz County and the weird anti-jobs stance of the fringe environmentalist's are probably a bigger obstacle, in this case.
