My feeling is that people aren't so much naysayers about the men on the Hill; there has always been professionalism and dedication amongst the snow fighters. It's more of a frustration felt across the system by UP employees in regard to the know it all behavior that comes from Omaha. I can't speak from personal experience, but I know my dad stayed with WP an extra 6 months after the merger and they could not believe the attitude from Omaha towards WP; the same thing happened again when he was with SP 14 years later. Then again, it is all still a matter of perspective and when railfans here this, it just builds and builds to the point of how "stupid UP is" which isn't true. Even the best of copmanies make bad decisions at times.

So my question is in an earlier thread it was reported that Truckee is the only location on all of the UP system that can override Omaha. Does anyone have details on how this process of Omaha and the snow fighters works?

And as far as getting up there, I personally am leaving the Bay Area at 5 am tomorrow, 4wd drive, snow shoes, emergency equipment, and of course a camera! Super excited!
