As reported by my dad one or both of us had been up there from Sunday to yesterday when I came home. The 4032, the rebuilt fixed wing was used in serious heavy spreading on the EB return trip on Friday. It was used in the cuts from Shed 10 all the way to MP 189. I saw this first hand as I spent all day at Troy. The small bugs are being worked out, some may have been found with some more testing before heading up the hill but others can not be found until put through serious work. Yesterday the spreaders worked from Nap Tunnel west of Blue Canyon to Gold Run along with the snow fighter. Both spreader sets spent the night at Gold Run in the siding. It has been at least 15 years since they have spent the night there so it was a very rare event. Once the spreader sets were in the clear UP released the trains, running 10 trains in and hour and 20 mins, 3 wb and 7 eb. On Thursday/Friday morning once the spreaders were in the clear back at truckee there were 26 train movements over the hill not including Flangers before they got back out at 4am on Friday moring. UP is and can handle the hill just fine.
