It's great to see this thread. I eagerly awaited this special issue and it was not what I expected. It's hard to believe Trains staff let this through considering the other excellent stuff they put out. It's hard to understand the rankings. Even though many of the films are great films to those who know trains many wouldn't even make the top 500 list or any list. No way the guy who picked the films has anything close to an interest in trains. Looks like he googled "trains" and "films" and picked his top 100 based on what he IS interested in. If a great train film happened to show up in his list it was included. This is not the railfans equivalent of the AFI list of 100 greatest films of all time (that one made sense).
