Yeah, the few times I've hiked into Park, I've been fortunate enough to not see a coal train. The power isn't the big problem for me, though the ratty mis-matched units certainly aren't exciting. As a veteran Washy photographer of the old days, I know you can relate: couple of summers ago I *finally* got a southbound in the right light, at a spot I had been trying (and hiking into several times) deep in Palouse Canron. What came blasting out of the tunnel was this coal train. Faded and grungy BNSF motor on the point, and an endless train of black coal hoppers blending, indistinguishable, into the canyon walls. A manifest, or a potash, anything else would have made a fabulous photo.
