When Portland Traction's owners UP/SP decided to begin upgrading the Boring line, they relaid a little over a mile of the 70lb rail with 100lb salvaged from the Irrigon line. Later, in 1989 when the Boring line was abandoned and cut back to Milwaukie, this same rail was taken up and relaid by OPR on the remaining portion still in operation and will be used by the Holiday Express the next two weekends benefiting ORHF (see previous post)

The line also hosts rail from the UP Heppner branch, many long gone industrial tracks around the region as well as the Oregon Electric in Forest Grove. Shortline resourcefulness in action!
