Just letting my mind follow a wild hair...... Imagine a modern AC version of the centennials. How much of an improvement would we see? Better adhesion? better reliability?

My understanding of their main problem was how they were set up. 2 engine-generator sets (1 for each truck) Lose one and you lose half a locomotive. There was no provision for either prime mover to operate both trucks. Correct me if I'm wrong.
