Up here in the Pacific Northwest, we've doing this thing called Tracks in the Snow, organized by Ross Fotheringham.
This year's event promised to have a special treat. An invitee from Canada was to bring his substantial lighting setup, with the expressed goal of lighting the bridge at Sunset Falls on the BNSF Scenic sub (near Index, WA).
It was pretty clear that we weren't going to be worrying about slipping on snow and falling in the river. The west of the pass had nary a flake of snow anywhere near the tracks. But rain was a likely threat. Fortunately, it stopped enough that Jeff was willing to bring the lights out. Those of us who would not be synced to the strobes, practiced on the bridge at Index the night before. With that bit of knowledge, the next evening we made our way to the difficult to access location at the top of the falls. A lot of thanks to the guys who set up the lights (I helped a little getting the equipment back up the hill).
I hope sometime you get to see the shot Jeff made (I've not seen the full size image yet), until then, perhaps you'll enjoy my version.
