The SN motor cars and control trailers which operated on the Key Route Pier were equipped with tripper arms on the roof near the front of the car on the left side. When a signal was set to red, it also deployed an arm which would catch the tripper arm on a car running through the red signal, and dump the air.
A couple of years ago, I serviced both tripper valves for SN 1005 at WRM, and Joe Magruder had the fun of re-installing their air piping.
