Trail, BC Derailment Questions

The tv coverage of the derailment in Trail, BC left me scratching my head.

The newscaster said that the grade the runaway train was travelling on was the steepest in North America. I however think that the branchline to the Everett Boeing plant is twice as steep as the Teck Cominco branch in Trail. Can anyone positively identify the grade and how long a section it is?

Also, the same newscaster said that the train was going so fast, "the body of the locomotive was ripped off at the wheels because of the break-neck speed and tight curves". The locomotive's trucks were still fully on the tracks as the rest of the locomotive laid on it's side, some distance from them.
Are locomotive trucks held in place to the chassis, or do the pieces kind of interlock each other to make removal/maintenance easier?

I know that the research that went into this newscast was "predictable" to say the least.

Thanks
almo
