Reminds me of all the times that I've been on the west portal with my binoculars laying on the roof of my car - fixed on the opening straight ahead. The tracks curve to the South slightly, and you can park safely to the side and see straight through the tunnel to the other side.

I prop my bino's laying upside down, and as long as the door on the East side is open and air quality is good, you can watch a train enter from the other side. I only caught it once due to the air quality issues with the tunnel, but it looked magical.
