Someone recently posted comment about the ex-Lackawanna MU cars in San Diego. Six of these were purchased by the museum in the mid-1980s from a New Jersey scrapper for use on its museum train operation based at Campo, Calif. on the San Diego & Arizona Eastern Railway (owned by the Metropolitan Transit System in San Diego)and are still in service in that capacity over up to 21 miles of that railroad. All of the electrical gear was stripped from the cars to convert them to chair cars and were repainted Pullman Green and relettered for the museum's train operation entity "San Diego & Arizona Railway" (the line's original corporate name). Train service is currently provided by vintage diesels, departing the museum weekends at the 1917 Campo Depot (info: psrm.org).
