In regards to photo Number 2, which shows a navy locomotive crossing a bridge. It is identified as crossing Port Chicago Highway. This is in error. That bridge crosses Waterfront road, which connects PC to Avon and Martinez. It is now closed. I was born in Concord, but my home was Port Chicago. I lived in PC from 1943 to 1962 and returned again in 1966 before moving to Livermore, CA. I spent many hours beneath that bridge in the surrounding area, it was my playground. Man do I miss it. See my article about my hometown at the smithsonian website. www.smithsonianmag.com/departments/my-kind-of-town/your... Thanks for the memories.
