Always amazes me how the mere mention of NWP causes such a stir!

While trying to inspect and clear portions of the north end about two and a half years ago with the motorcar group I noticed clever theft of tunnel timbers. Some of the short tunnels had 12X12 redwood lining timbers with shingle bolts jammed behind them for cribbing. These bolts were being mined by locals with ATV's who would stack them inside the tunnel on both sides of the track for removal at liesure. 100 year old redwood bolts probably draw a good price. When the bolts are gone I imagine the finished timber will go too. The curiosity of nearby residents was obvious at the appearence of our motorcars (with ATV's parked in their yards of course).
